Going Back in Time

As you all know, Dave and I met at a singles country dance almost thirteen years ago. We had both been going for about two years and had really learned to love to dance. Neither of us went there thinking that we would meet someone to get married but we each had a really nice group of friends that we loved to dance with.  I noticed Dave there but knew that I was not a good enough dancer to ask him to dance and he was a "little" intimidated to ask me. (I got that a lot and I never knew why) Anyways, he ended up taking one of my friends out on a date and that was kind of my "in." Eventually I asked him to dance and from then on we were almost inseprable. After our month long courtship we got engaged and from then on Dave did not want to go there to dance anymore because we were not "single" anymore. I'll be honest, I was really irritated by that, but yet I understood. He had a lot of ex-girlfriends there and it was a little weird. There are not a lot of options when it comes to dancing unless you want to go to a bar, so after we got married we just did not go very often.

Here we are all these years later and we have a group of friends who have wanted to learn how to dance. We spent a few weeks organizing it and on Saturday we had our first round of lessons. I was a little nervous because it had been so long since we had danced together. We were no doubt "rusty" and we are definatly older and out of shape but I was amazed at how much we remembered. It was so fun to have those feelings of when we were young and had all the energy in the world. We used to dance for three hours almost nonstop and then leave dripping in sweat. We only danced for about an hour and a half with a break for treats but Dave and I had a blast. We have it planned again for the 19th but then decided to do it again this weekend too. We did struggle a little trying to teach the steps without confusing everyone anymore than they already were. It is one thing to know how to dance but it is another to be able to teach it. We are working on that and hopefully we can keep this going and it will grow into a nice big group of couples who love to dance as much as we do.

This picture is us on our way to one of our last dates to the "Singles Dance."

that is neat that you are teaching others to have fun dancing. I loved to dance and on the other hand hates dancing. Oh well. Have fun!!
